  • Descrizione: The teacher Evlampios Mantekas, born and bred in Rizochorio in the Peloponnese, comes to Athens to ask the industrialist Bampis Chanos to fulfill his promise to build a school in the village. He visits him during a reception held in honor of a rich Greek-American, Jack. Chanos, being superstitious, persuades him to remain at the reception pretending to be Lampis Eleftheroudakis, a well-known publisher who published a dictionary under his name. Jack is impressed by Lampis’ knowledge and wants to be present at the signing of the deal with Chanos. The teacher, however, is informed by the maid that Chanos’ business is bankrupt. Jack, who, as it turns out, is his lost father from during the time of the German Occupation, agrees to undertake the school construction expenses and, at the same time, helps his son win Chanos’ daughter.
